Memberships – New Members & General Questions


What are my options for paying my dues?

You can have your monthly dues electronically deducted from either your checking account or a debit/credit card account. This is known as electronic funds transfer (EFT).

How do I set up or make a change to my bank account information for my monthly payment membership?

If you need to update your bank account information or change your automatic payment from your bank account, please visit the front desk and we will be happy to assist you.

How can I cancel my membership?

Body Mechanics will cancel your membership at any time as long as you provide your 30 day notice, cancellation request in a mailed, certified letter prior to the next monthly payment. If your mailed, certified letter is received after the monthly dues are issued, the cancellation will go into effect the following month.

Do you offer any babysitting services?

For children ages 4 to 12 years, our Kids’ Only Playroom is a safe environment where your young ones can play while you exercise.

Can I bring a guest to work out with me?

Body Mechanics encourages you to bring friends, relatives and business associates for a guest visit for the purpose of introducing them as potential members. Subject to the club manager’s approval, make an appointment for your guest’s visit and tour. A guest must check in at the front desk, and be at least 18 years of age. Guests must comply with the rules and regulations of the club. We reserve the right to charge guest fees for out of town guests and for other guests we may admit who are not interested in signing up with Body Mechanics. Body Mechanics may restrict the number of guests and times you may bring guests.  We reserve the right to discontinue guest privileges, in whole or in part, for the general benefit of the club.

What should I bring when I workout for the first time?

Pack your gym bag with the following items below to have a successful first time workout.

  • Your membership ID
  • Workout Towel – to wipe down the equipment you’ll be using
  • A lock to keep your belongings safe
  • A water bottle.
  • Gym clothing and appropriate gym shoes if you’re not already wearing them
  • Toiletries
  • Do not bring your own equipment

What is the minimum age to be a member?

The minimum membership age to use the Body Mechanics fitness center with a parent or guardian is 12. The minimum membership age to use the club without a parent or guardian is 16.


Policies and Etiquette


Are there time limits for using certain pieces of equipment?

To be courteous to all members, we ask that you please not linger on the equipment as other members may be waiting to use that equipment. Please try not to monopolize the equipment or weights. Should any conflicts arise over equipment use, please let the Body Mechanics’ management resolve them. As a courtesy to other members, and to ensure everyone’s safety, we ask that you please re-rack your weights after use.

Are children allowed in the clubs?

Minors Under 12 may not use Body Mechanics’ facilities at any time and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times when in the facilities. Minors over the age of 12 may use Body Mechanics’ facilities without being accompanied by a parent or guardian if the minor is a member and their parent or guardian signed the parental waiver and membership agreement.

Can we take photos inside the club?

To protect the privacy of our members, we have a no-camera policy and ask that you do not take any pictures while in the club (this includes cell phone cameras).

What is the policy around towel usage?

We strongly encourage all members to use their workout towel to wipe down the equipment after exercising, for sanitary reasons and as a courtesy to other members. We also provide disinfectant spray and paper towels throughout our clubs to help keep the equipment sanitized between cleanings.

What do I do if I see a safety or security issue in the club?

If you see a safety or security issue in the club please contact a Body Mechanics member immediately so the issue can be addressed promptly.

Is there “gym etiquette” that members are expected to abide by?

Yes, please refer to our Membership Policy for details and follow the below guidelines:

  • Please limit your cell phone use when in the club, using a low tone of voice.
  • Wear comfortable appropriate gym shoes and clothing. No jeans or street clothes are allowed.
  • Please re-rack your weight equipment after using.
  • Wipe down your equipment with disinfectant spray (provided) after using; we strongly suggest that you bring your own towel as well.
  • Do not use equipment if you are taking any medication that causes drowsiness or have any medical condition which makes such use inappropriate.
  • Enter the studio for your group exercise class only after the preceding class has finished.
  • Please enter any group exercise class on time. If you arrive within 5 minutes of the start time, please set up at the back of the class.

Is Body Mechanics a fitness center for both men and women?

Body Mechanics welcomes both men and women. We strive to make all our members feel at ease and offer an attractive set of services that help support all types of fitness goals.


Personal Training


Do I have to be a member to purchase personal training?

Yes, you must have a Body Mechanics membership to purchase personal training. We offer affordable month to month memberships that make it easy for anyone to become a member and take advantage of personal training. All services and classes offered at Body Mechanics are available to members only.

Can I pay someone who isn’t a Body Mechanics’ Personal Trainer to train me in one of your clubs?

No member may train another member for compensation within our facilities. If Body Mechanics determines that such training occurs, the trainer and/or trainee may lose their membership.

How much does Personal Training cost?

There are different levels of Personal Training and various packages to meet every budget. Your club’s Fitness Manager can help you find the right package to meet your needs and stay within your budget.

How long do I have to use my personal training sessions?

All personal training sessions must be used within 6 months of date of purchase. Remember – you must be an active member of Body Mechanics to use personal training sessions.

How can I purchase personal training?

Speak with your club’s Fitness Manager or any team member. He/she will answer all of your questions and help you get started and assist you with your purchase.

How do I choose a Personal Trainer?

We make it easy to choose a trainer. You can also talk to the Fitness Manager at your club about finding the right trainer to meet your needs. Personal Trainers work one-on-one with our members to provide motivation, coaching and guidance. Their goal is to help you get your desired results. You can also join group classes that are offered regularly throughout the week.

Why should I consider purchasing Personal Training?

Personal Training can help you get results that you want. To begin, your personal trainer will identify your goals and create a fitness plan that is personalized for you. Each session will provide you with the best exercises for your needs.  During your workouts, your trainer will provide ongoing motivation and support that will help you achieve your specific fitness goals. Our trainers care about you and are there to help you achieve your goals.

What do I do if I am unable to make my scheduled personal training appointment?

You must cancel a scheduled training session 24 hours in advance. If you don’t show up, are more than 15 minutes late, or you cancel your session less than 24 hours before your appointment, you will be charged for the session. If you are unable to keep an appointment, please contact your personal trainer or the club to reschedule.

Can I get a refund for my personal training sessions if my trainer is no longer with the company?

If your assigned trainer is no longer available to conduct any or all of your sessions, we will place you with another one of our trainers.


Group Exercise Classes


Does Body Mechanics charge for group exercise classes?

Body Mechanics offers a broad range of group exercise classes that are included with our memberships. We also offer specialty classes for incremental fees (Spinning and TRX for example); these classes are distinctive and require more specialized instructor.

I’ve never taken a Group Exercise class — what should I expect?

A extraordinary exercise experience! Body Mechanics caters to all levels, so just let the instructor know before the class if it’s your first time. Every participant gets a great workout and the support from a group setting is tremendous.

I wish my club had additional class times or more class types —what can I do?

Make a suggestion to the Body Mechanics staff. It is important that we know what our members prefer, so we can adjust schedules accordingly and plan for future class offerings. We monitor our schedules on an ongoing basis to ensure that the classes are well-attended, and well-balanced, but we are always open to suggestions.

Do the groups exercise instructors to have training specific to the class they teach?

Yes, our instructors do need class-specific training in order to begin teaching all of our classes, including our SilverSneakers® program.

What if I don’t know how to use a piece of equipment?

Ask a Body Mechanics staff member for assistance if you are unfamiliar with any of the equipment. We want to be sure you are safely operating the equipment as it was intended and to give you the best possible workout.
